This is a very fine prewar German Mauser Luger dated 1938. This was the standard WWII German Luger issued to all military forces. The chamber is dated "1938" and the front toggle has the secret wartime code of "S/42" for the Mauser factory. The barrel extension has the standard "eagle/63" acceptance proofs along with a single droop wing eagle firing proofs which is also on the right side of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. It is correctly marked on the upper safety area and extractor "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. It has matching checkered walnut grips. It is complete with a single chrome plated, unmarked magazine with an aluminum base stamped "4184/d/Eagle/63".

Very fine overall with 85% plus original blue finish with edge and high spot wear with some minor blue loss on the side plate hump, muzzle and front frame rails, with thinning on the grip straps. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice original checkering on both sides showing wear on the tops of the diamonds with some minor nicks. It has matching numbers except the magazine as noted. Mechanically excellent. A very fine original example of a 1938 dated Luger pistol.
