Description:

This is a very fine example of a DWM Model 1908 second issue military contract Luger pistol. The 1908 models can be identified as they have no chamber date, the military proofs are located on the left side of the barrel extension, and no stock lug on the frame. This Luger has been arsenal modified for the hold-open device, as added to all military Luger in 1913. There is a small "Crown/D" proof on the right side of the frame below the frame rail, indicating it was reworked at the DWM factory. It has the standard "DWM" logo on the front toggle and the left side of he barrel extension has the two "crown/script" letter Army inspection proofs, proceeded by the Imperial Eagle firing proof. The front grip strap has been stamped with: "109.R.6.2". It has the full serial number on the frame and the underside of the barrel with the last two digits on the recoil lug and other various smaller parts. It has the second pattern safety with "GESICHERT" marked in the upper position and "GELADEN" on the extractor. It is fitted with a set of unnumbered checkered walnut grips. It comes with a tin plated magazine with a unnumbered wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially refinished (straw parts) with balance retaining 95% of the blue finish overall with clear markings and proofs. The various smaller parts retain 95% of their restored colors overall. The grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp distinct checkering on both sides with only a couple of minor handling marks. A nice representative example of an early DWM model 1908 Military luger.
