Description:

This is a very good example of a post WWI, Weimar Double Date Police issue Luger rig. These early Weimar Police Lugers are fairly rare as they were issued to the Sicherheitspolizei or Freikorps in the 1919/1920 time frame, intending to control the rioting and looting after WWI. They were issued with out the standard Police trigger and sear bar safety modifications and original unaltered examples are rare as all Weimar Police Lugers were later modified for the trigger and sear bar safety. This example was accounted for in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles, usually by the issuing Police unit, as the chamber area has been restamped 1920 over the original 1918 issue date. The front grip strap has also been unit marked: "S.D.I.1(1 Xed out)797", indicating issuance to the 1st Division of the Schutzpolizei, in Dusseldorf as pistol "797". This scarce Luger comes with an early issue black Police Luger holster. The inside flap is stamped: "F.COBAU/BERLIN/1911". They were the main supplier of Police/Military holster. The back is also stamped: "S.D.I.765." indicating it was issued to the same Police unit and is only a few numbers off the Luger. The right side of the barrel extension retains the three original military "Crown/Gothic letter" proofs followed by an Imperial Eagle firing proof, with the latter proof also on the left side of the breech block. It has the original military style serial number placement with the standard safety area and extractor markings. It is complete with an early issue non-blued magazine with an unmarked wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 90% of the arsenal refurbished blued finish overall with wear and light blue loss on the edge and high spots with thinning and browning on the grip straps. The various smaller parts retain 15% of their arsenal restrawed colors. mostly in the protected areas. The grips are good, with some flattened checkering on both sides showing more wear on the left side. The holster is in very good condition overall, with a nice dark black color overall (dyed black under the Nazis) with age cracking on the magazine pouch with tight stitching and clear markings inside the flap and on the back. The Luger has matching numbers except the grips and firing pin which are correctly unnumbered. An interesting early Weimar, double date Police Luger rig.
