Description:

Designed by Bunji Hamada, a peacetime maker of custom sporting arms, the Hamada Pistol, aka the "Type 1", was ordered in 1941 in response to wartime activity cutting off access to the foreign pocket pistols that were typically private, purchased by Japan's military officers. Reportedly, every Hamada was shipped directly to units in the Chinese Expeditionary Force, and very few headed to the Pacific Theater as their owners were transferred resulting in few of them being captured and brought home by Americans making them scarce on the domestic collector's market. Fixed sights, with a date of "18" (1943) on the right side of the frame, and a milled round disc for inspector stamping on the left side of the slide. Includes a rare Hamada pattern holster with an extra correct original magazine and the original red silk lining.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish. Displaying small areas of high point and edge wear, over stamped markings, and general handling marks throughout. The grips are also very fine with well defined checkering and general handling marks. Mechanically very good. The holster is fair with separated seems, small holes, and general scuffs throughout.
