This is an excellent example of a very desirable late production original Colt Firearms Division commercially manufactured, fully automatic M16A1 rifle. These original Colt fully automatic M16 series rifles are very desirable as they were produced exactly as their military counterpart using the same military grade, factory original parts. To keep them separate and distinct from the Military weapons, they were given their own special commercial serial number designation in the 9 million serial number range. This example was produced as a later Colt M16A1 series rifle with the forward assist on the right side of the upper receiver and the windage adjustable two-position flip rear sight. The barrel is correctly marked "C MP CHROME BORE", and the lower receiver is marked "COLT/M16A1/CAL. 5.56 MM./9414543" on the magazine well and "COLT FIREARMS DIVISION/COLT INDUSTRIES/HARTFORD CONN./U.S.A." next to the three-position "SAFE/SEMI/AUTO" selector. It is fitted with the early triangular shaped, vented plastic handguard, checkered pistol grip and fixed buttstock with M16A1 style storage compartment. This rifle includes one 20 round magazine and a black web sling. This lot also comes with an aftermarket M16A1 style upper receiver/barrel group that includes a 10 1/2 inch carbine length barrel, round handguards, bolt carrier and bolt, (no firing pin or cam), a complete sliding carbine buttstock assembly with tube, spring and buffer. It also includes an extra set of M16A1 spare parts, to include a hammer, automatic sear trip and disconnector.

Excellent with 98% plus of the phosphate/parkerized finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear. The markings are clear and sharp. The plastic components are also in excellent condition with only very minor handling marks on the sides. Mechanically excellent. The extra upper receiver/barrel group as noted above is also in excellent condition showing 97% of their original finish overall. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATF) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
