The Model 42 was produced by Winchester from 1933 until 1963. Most production estimations of the Model 42 are around 160,000 which makes this shotgun with serial number "161537" a rare find. It features a single silver bead front sight on a barrel chambered for 3 inch shells and choked modified. The barrel markings are the third variation on this model with "WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK" followed by "-MODEL 42 - 410 - 3 INCH CHAM./MADE IN THE USA WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" and "MOD." marked on the left side above the slide. The assembly arrows are on the bottom of the magazine tube with the serial number stamped twice on the bottom of the receiver and barrel assembly. The two Winchester proofs are stamped on the top of the barrel and receiver. Takedown action with 2/3 length tubular magazine. Grooved slide handle and smooth pistol-grip stock with a Winchester marked checkered composite buttplate.

Excellent with 97% plus of the original blue finish remaining. Light wear at the muzzle and the edges of the slide bar and magazine tube from cycling the action. The wood is excellent with only light pressure dents and handling marks. The action is excellent.
