Description:

Manufactured by Immanuel Meffert, a prominent Suhl gunmaker in operation until close to the outbreak of World War II. The barrels features a silver beaded blade front and a manual flip up express style notch sights. The rib is marked "IMMAN. MEFFERT, SUHL". The barrels are marked with standard "KRUPP" steel markings and pre-war German "crown/N" and "crown/U" proofs. The chambers measure 2 9/16 inches, and the chokes are improved modified/full. The frame and action are vibrantly color casehardened with light geometric engraving. Fitted with double triggers, Greener style cross bolt, and a thumb selector. Mounted on a checkered Schnabel tip splinter forearm and pistol grip stock with a fluted horn grip cap and serrated hard rubber buttplate. Includes two 16 gauge snap caps. The shotgun barrel and stock measurements are: Bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .662/.662 inches; Wall thickness at 9 inches from breech .049/.049 inches; Drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; Drop at heel 2 5/8 inches; 0 cast; Length of pull 13 3/4 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 90% of the original blue finish on the barrels and 70% of the original case colors on the action. The barrels show small scratches and scattered light spotting throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The rear sight has been painted white. The action shows areas that have aged to a mostly gray patina with large areas of strong case colors. The trigger guard does show some slightly rough spotting in the back at the grip area. The wood is very good with scattered small indentations, sharp checkering, small chips at the heel and toe, and a hairline crack above the triggers on the left side. Mechanically excellent.
