Description:

This beautiful small bore shotgun is marked "FABRICA DE ESCOPETAS MARCA "HERCULES" HIJOS DE VICTOR ARAMBERRI Y CIA EIBAR" on the top of the barrel and has a circled "SE" stamp over "63" on the barrel lug and action. The matching serial number 8851 is on the barrel and forearm. The barrel has a bird with the head serving as a post front sight and a pair of birds at the breech for a notch rear sight. The action, lock, hammer and even the break lever have deep relief engraving patterns with dogs and various game animals, including squirrels, rabbits, birds, boars, and stags. Even the trigger has some engraving and checkering. The shotgun is mounted with a nicely figured stock and forearm with checkering on the forearm, wrist, and bare butt. The muzzle is .38 caliber (tighter than a standard full choked .410) and the chamber measures 2 1/8 inches with a .410 chamber gauge. The length of pull is 14 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 95% plus of the original finish and has some gray patina at the muzzle. The front sight and firing pin have some minor deformation. The remaining components have a dark gray patina. The reoiled stock and forearm are both fine with crisp checkering, a few slight chips, and some light scratches. The action function fine. This is a very interesting, exhibition quality Spanish shotgun.
