The barrel gauges at 8mm while it chambers at 300 Rook or 310 Cadet, however a chamber cast is needed to identify which. Features a folding beach combination front sight and three folding leaf rear sight. 1 1/8 inches and the dolls head extension are engraved with a floral scroll design, with a 1 inch wedge of the same engraving ahead of the rear sight. The breech end and 12 inches of the forward portion of the barrel have a matted finish. Ahead of the rear sight is gold inlaid "THE NAWAB. MAHBOOB YAR JUNG. BAHADOOR." and the breech end is marked " Jno. Rigby & Co. 72 St James's Street London and Dublin". The receiver is finely engraved with a floral scroll design with a deer scene on each side, as well as gold inlaid scroll accents. Nawabs were governors and Muslim noblemen in India. Nawab Mahboob Yar Jung is listed as an aide-de-camp to the Nizam (sovereign) of Hyderabad in the 1880s and 1890s. The engraving pattern extends to trigger guard and forearm knuckle, both of which also have gold inlaid scroll accents. The serial number is engraved on the back of the trigger guard and stamped on the water table. The water table and barrel flat are stamped "FIELD'S/No 2646/PATENT". Casehardened receiver with blue remaining parts and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm with a contrasting forend, and pistol grip stock with a horn grip cap and buttplate, a silver initial oval on the left rear and on the underside. Comes in a leather bound hard case with combination locks, leather handle, brass corner protectors and wine colored velvet lining. In the case is a small brush and screwdriver.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period refinished overall. The receiver has a smooth dark color. All of the gold inlay remains. The wood is also very good with a very small filled repair on the lower right wrist at the receiver, a few tiny chips along the edges of the receiver, a poorly filled repair (which is presently cracking) directly behind the upper tang, some scattered minor dings and dents, and very crisp checkering. Unless noted above, the markings are clear. Mechanically fine. The case is excellent and the brush and screwdriver are very good.
