It has its correct 1903A3 non-finger groove "S" style stock that has the boxed "FJA" and Crossed Cannon cartouche on the left side, (with no RA markings), the correct/original sub-inspector proofs in front of the trigger guard with the larger circled "P" proof behind the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% of the original finish with edge and high spot wear overall with thinning on the bolt knob, with some browning on the trigger guard. The stock is in very fine condition with clear sharp stock proofs with only minor handling marks on the underside of the forend, with some heavier handling marks from a rifle rack on the left front side of the forend and top of the handguard. The bore is excellent. A nice honest original WWII Smith Corona 1903A3 rifle.

Manufacturer: Remington Arms Inc
Model: 03-A3
Type: Rifle
Gauge: 30-06
Barrel: 24 inch round
Finish: parkerized

Description:

This is a very early original, WWII Remington Arms M1903A3 bolt action rifle, that still has its very desirable original "four-groove" barrel. Remington M1903A3 produced started in Dec 1942/early 1943. This rifle was produced in Feb/March 1943 as the barrel is marked "R.A./2-43". Remington switched to two-groove barrel production in April/May 1943 with most early barrel being replaced during overhaul. Standard Remington receiver markings over serial number of "3598805". It is fitted with the correct Remington, stamped barrel bands, blued trigger guard (with the small trigger guard bow) and checkered buttplate. Original all blued Remington bolt assembly with the correct "R" marked parts. The receiver and barrel have the original WWII Remington green parkerized finish with its original blued rear sight and standard blade front sight. Fitted with an early Remington straight grip walnut stock with two-reinforcing pins. The stock is not cartouched and is indicative or early Remington 1903A3 production when everything was being manufactured and shipped immediately. It comes with a sheet metal front sight cover. These early rifles saw heavy use in the Pacific with most rebuilt and rebarreled in 1944/45.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus of the original Remington, combination blued/parkerized finish showing just very minor edge and high spot wear with some cycling wear on the bolt body with more wear on the buttplate. The stock is also in excellent condition showing only a couple over very minor handling marks. The bore is excellent. This is a very rare and seldom seen early Remington M1903A3 rifle with the desirable four-groove barrel. A great pair of WWII Model 1903A3 rifles.
