Stevens manufactured these tip-up rifles from the 1870s until the mid-1890s. This example was manufactured pre-1886 and has the J. Stevens & Co. address and patent marking on the left side at the breech. It is equipped with a combination blade and globe front sight, rear sight filler block, a tang mounted Lyman peep sight, smooth forearm and straight wrist stock, and a Swiss style target buttplate. The serial numbers match, including on the inside of the forearm and buttplate.

Very good. 50% of the fading blue finish remains on the barrel mixed with brown patina. The hammer and trigger retain strong original niter blue finish, and 90% plus of the original nickel plating remains on the other components with some slight flaking on the action. The stock wood is very good and has some small dings and minor scratches. There is some attractive figure near the heel. The action functions fine, and the markings are mostly clear aside from the lightly stamped tail end of the patent marking.

Manufactured between 1886 and 1895 and marked with the Stevens A & T Co. marking. It has a combination front sight, rear sight filler block installed, and a short range tang peep sight. The top barrel flat has two holes drilled for sight/scope mounting. The bottom of barrel is marked with the number "14" and "25.20" suggesting that a 25-20 barrel was used by the factory and re-chambered and rifled for .32-20. The "32.20" marking on the upper right flat is factory marked. It has a nicely figured smooth straight grip stock with crescent buttplate.

Very good as partially refinished. The barrel now has a smooth brown patina with some scattered blue finish. The receiver retains 90% nickel finish with wear on the right and under sides. The trigger guard retains traces of the nickel finish with a mottled gray patina on the balance. The buttplate shows 80% nickel finish with areas of gray patina. The stock has had a coat of varnish applied some time ago and has some scattered minor dings and dents. The markings are clear. The action needs some work given the hammer does not consistently stay in the cocked position.
