Description:

Only about 3,500 of these were made from 1880-1911. Named for a well known pistol shooter of the era and enjoyed a great deal of popularity during its production. Marked with the later two-line "J. STEVENS A&T" address/patent on the upper left flat of the barrel. The sight configuration is very interesting, consisting of a fixed hooded front pin with a short German silver blade on top of the hood, an elevation adjustable rear ladder peep sight on the barrel and an elevation adjustable peep sight mounted at the back strap shoulder. The barrel is blued, the frame, trigger guard and buttcap are nickel plated; and the trigger, hammer, and rear sight are niter blue. The trigger guard has the distinctive finger hook and the butt is slotted for the addition of a shoulder stock. The grips are finely checkered.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 85% of the original finish. The barrel has aged to a dark blue/brown patina with some areas of light edge wear, surface scratches, and some light freckling. The frame shows small handling marks and light surface scratches throughout, light spotting, and bubbling of the nickel on the butt. The grips are very good with general handling marks and well defined checkering. Mechanically very good.
