These two pistols are serial numbered "488" and "489" respectively. Both feature fixed beaded blade front and fixed rear notch sights. The left barrel flats are marked "J STEVENS & Co. CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS, PAT. SEPT. 6. 1864". The frames are a nickel finish with nitre blue screws, checkered nitre blue hammer, and a smooth nitre blue conventional trigger with a spurred trigger guard. The grips are finely checkered walnut, and the heavy butt is marked with an indecipherable three letter monogram. The hardwood case is partitioned for both guns with a blue interior, brass hinges and corner accents and two lidded inner compartments. The case contains two cleaning rods with attachments, small screwdriver, oiler bottle, several patches, 9 loose rounds of .38 Short Colt ammunition, and a fifty round box of Remington UMC .38 Short Colt ammunition.

Very fine with 95% of the blue finish. Showing some areas of light edge wear, general handling marks, small surface scratches, and some light spotting. The grips are very fine with well defined checkering and a few small handling marks. The butt shows chipping of the nickel at the cut monogram as well as a few small dings. Mechanically very good. The case is about good with general storage and handling marks and a darker patina on the brass. The interior shows small amounts of tearing and mild staining.

The butt shows some flaking of the nickel at the cut monogram lines as well as a few small dings. The grips are very good with general handling marks, and a few small dings. Mechanically excellent.
