Description:

Stevens manufactured these tip-up rifles in many variations from the 1870s to the mid-1890s. This example was manufactured post-1886 and has the J. Stevens A & T Co. two-line address and patent marking on the upper left flat, a combination blade and beach combination front sight, fixed notch rear sight, a Vernier peep tang sight, Schnabel tip forend, and a smooth buttstock with Swiss style target buttplate. The matching serial number is on various components.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 80% of the thinning original blue finish remains on the barrel along with some areas of brown patina. The hammer retains virtually all of the bright niter blue finish, and the action, trigger guard, and buttplate retain 97% plus of the original nickel plating. There are some minor marks and scratches from handling and storage throughout. The wood is very good and has only minor dings and light scratches. The action functions excellently, and the markings are crisp.
