A) Rare Stevens 14 Gauge Tip-Up Shotgun without Forend

Description:

These shotguns were manufactured alongside the tip-up rifles in the 1870s to mid-1890s. This example has the early one line J. Stevens & Co. address and patent marking on the top of the barrel at the breech, a bead front sight, dished section on the top of the frame for sighting, and a smooth buttstock with nickel plate buttplate. The matching serial number is on several components. Very strong replacement hammer spring.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel has a mix of brown patina and blue finish and appears to have been touched up. 98% plus of the original nickel plating remains on the action, trigger guard, and buttplate. The stock is very good and has a few small ding and marks. The action functions fine, and the markings are crisp.

Description:

These tip-up rifles were first released in the 1870s and were manufactured until the mid-1890s. This 1886-1890s example is the style without a forearm and features a combination bead and globe front sight, adjustable sporting rear sight, standard J. Stevens A & T Co. address and patent marking in two lines behind the rear sight, and matching serial numbers.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 95% of the original finish and has some slight edge wear and on the bottom of the barrel. Virtually all of the original nickel plating remains. There are some minor scratches and dings overall. The wood is very good and has some dents and scratches. The action functions fine, and the markings are crisp.
