Manufactured in the early 1900s. Evans was a former employee of Purdey and Holland & Holland and set up his own shop sometime after 1883 that is still in business today. The shotgun has a single bead sight, solid matte rib with dolls head extension, and ejectors. The top of the right barrel near the breech is marked "WILLIAM EVANS", and "63 PALL MALL, ST JAMES'S LONDON" is on the left. The underside of each barrel is marked with the matching serial number, "FULL/CHOKE, "P", British proof and "2 3/4 SHELL". The flats are marked "NITRO PROOF" "1 1/4", "12/C" in a diamond, "CHOKE" and with various British proofmarks. Each side of the water table is marked with the serial number and a "crown/V" proof. The action, lock plates, break lever, trigger guard and forearm hardware are highly engraved with detailed English scroll and geometric borders. Each side plate is marked "WILLIAM EVANS", and the serial number is on the lower tang. The underside of the receiver is marked "EVANS PATENT/SINGLE TRIGGER". Mounted on a multi-point checkered splinter forearm and pistol grip stock with tear drop flats, hard rubber grip cap and an added vented rubber recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements are: Bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .732/.733 inches; Wall thickness at 9 inches from breech .049/.048 inches; Drop at comb 1 3/8 inches; Drop at heel 2 7/8 inches; 3/8 inch cast off; 3/8 inch toe out; 14 1/4 inch length of pull. Includes a leather bound takedown case with two snap caps.

Very good with 85% of the original finish, scattered surface scratches on the barrels, a few small dings, and some areas of light freckling. The receiver and side plates have aged to a smooth mostly gray patina with scattered areas of vibrant case colors. All markings are clear and legible. The wood is about good with areas of bruised checkering, small indentations throughout, missing inscription oval on the underside of the stock, chipped toe, recentered, and added recoil pad.
