This shotgun was manufactured in the late 1800s and features a single brass bead sight, smooth concave rib with a round doll's head extension and "W&C SCOTT & SON MAKERS & PATENTEES. LONDON." marking, 3 inch chambers, standard Birmingham proofs and "NOT FOR BALL" (indicating 1887 or earlier) on the bottom of the barrel, light English scroll engraving and "W&C SCOTT & SON" on each lock plate, light engraving on the nicely sculpted fences and hammers, a multi-point checkered splinter forearm with engraved hardware, and round knob pistol grip stock with a serrated horn buttplate. The stock measurements are: 1 7/8 inch drop at comb, 3 1/8 inch drop at heel, 0 cast, 1/2 inch toe in, and 14 inch length of pull.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 25% of the original thinning brown finish on the barrels. The barrels show scattered small dings and nicks, a mostly smooth gray patina nearer the breech, and mild wear at the muzzle. The receiver and side plates have aged to a smooth gray patina with faint traces of original case colors in protected areas behind the hammers and in front of the trigger guard. The wood is fair as repaired with a break visible at the wrist, smoothed checkering, scattered indentations, and chipping of the buttplate. The rear of the tang has been rewelded and filed over. Mechanically fine.
