This is a desirable example of a "highly optioned" special order Winchester Deluxe Model 1886 lightweight short takedown rifle with numerous other documented features to include full length magazine and shotgun butt that was manufactured in 1906. The barrel has Lyman beaded blade front sight, elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight, the two-line address/patent dates ahead of the rear sight, "NICKEL STEEL" on the left side next to the rear sight and "45-70" on the top at the breech. The Winchester oval proof is marked (double struck, factory error) on the top of the barrel just below the caliber marking and on top of the receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1886/-WINCHESTER-TRADE MARK." The lower tang is marked with the two-line patent dates information and the serial number. The takedown lever has the 1893 patent date. Mounted with a multi point checkered deluxe walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber Winchester grip cap and checkered hard rubber Winchester shotgun buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the extra light takedown rifle configuration, 45-70 caliber, 22 inch barrel length, round barrel, plain trigger, oil finished checkered pistol grip stock, Winchester "high velocity" sights, full magazine, rubber shotgun buttplate, that it was received in the warehouse on October 23, 1906, and shipped to order number 75262 the next day.

Excellent with 95% plus bright original high polish blue finish remaining, showing some light takedown scratches on the magazine tube, some mild edge wear, some thinning on the underside of the receiver and some minor scratches on the receiver. There is some mild flaking on the forend cap. 97% of the vivid original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The wood is also excellent with almost all of the oil finish remaining, and overall showing some light handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
