Excellent Documented Special Order, Winchester Deluxe Model 1892
This rifle is accompanied by a factory letter that describes this Model 1892 as: "Type: Rifle, Caliber: 25/20, Barrel Type: Octagon, Barrel Length: 28 inches, Trigger: Set" and "Fancy stock, Checkered stock". The letter states that this rifle was shipped from Winchester on March 24, 1905. The rifle has a full octagon, extra long, 28-inch barrel with full length magazine. Any extra long barrel is very rare on a Model 1892 rifle, particularly in a rifle chambered for the 25/20 cartridge. Non-standard length barrels were discontinued by Winchester in 1908 due to lack of demand. The barrel has a "Semi-Jack" front sight with brass bead and a sporting style buckhorn rear sight with screw-adjustable insert. A Lyman folding combination sight with coarse knurled stem is mounted on the receiver tang. The receiver has rare double set triggers. The stock and forearm are highly figured, fancy grain, 3X walnut with checkered panels and a high gloss piano finish. The barrel, magazine, forearm cap, receiver, bolt and set-triggers have a blue finish. The loading gate is niter blue. The hammer, lever and crescent buttplate are color casehardened. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped with the two-line legend: "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.PATENTED OCTOBER 14, 1884." ahead of the rear sight. The caliber designation: "25-20 W.C.F." is roll-stamped on the top barrel flat behind the rear sight. The serial number is roll-stamped across the front edge of the bottom of the receiver.

Exceptionally Rare and Well Documented Special Order
This is a super rare example of a highly Special Order Winchester 1876 lever action rifle in the extremely scarce 50-95 Winchester Express cartridge that was manufactured in late 1881. The rifle is fitted with a 26 inch round barrel with a raised matte rib. The top of the barrel is marked "WINCHESTER-REPEATING ARMS- NEW HAVEN CT./KING’S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED, MARCH 29, 1866. OCT 16, 1860", and the initials "D.O.K." are marked on top of the barrel near the breech. The right side of the barrel at the breech is marked "50", and "95" is on the left side. The barrel is fitted with a see through style front peep sight, a rare leveling bubble mounted ahead of the rear sight (covering a small portion of the address/patent marking), and a folding ladder/buck horn rear sight. The top of the dust cover is marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS/50 CAL. 95 GRS.", and the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "50-95". The upper tang is marked with the early style "MODEL. 1876." without the flanking foliage design, and the serial number is marked on the lower tang between the screw and the lever latch. The sides of the forend cap, hammer and forward sides of the lever have a small amount of floral scroll engraving. The barrel, 1/2 magazine, loading gate and dust cover are blue, and the forend cap, receiver, hammer and lever are casehardened. The rifle is mounted with a delicate hand checkered fancy grade walnut forearm and a nice feathered crotch walnut pistol grip stock with an ebony insert in the bottom of the grip and a checkered hard rubber buttplate. Each side of the stock is stamped with a small "D.O.K.". The accompanying Cody letter verifies the rifle configuration with round matted barrel, plain trigger, checkered pistol grip stock, sights listed "Sights as per letter", 1/2 magazine, rubber buttplate, casehardened, "Engraved $1.50", that it was received in the warehouse on February 13, 1882, and shipped on order number 30589, February 16, 1882. These big 1876 lever actions rifles were intended as an improvement on the 1873 rifle by lengthening the action to accommodate the new and improved rounds such as 40-60, 45-75, and of course, the 50-95. There were only approximately 64,000 made before the introduction of the newer improved 1886 rifle, making any 1876 rifle very desirable with a deluxe special order rifle such as this one even more scarce.

Exceptional and Attractive New Haven Arms Co. Civil War
This fine original Henry Lever Action Rifle was manufactured by the New Haven Arms Co. in July 1864. The rifle has the distinctive Henry brass receiver and buttplate with octagon barrel and integral 15-shot magazine. The barrel/magazine and bolt are blued, and the hammer, trigger and lever are color casehardened. The straight grain American walnut stock is oil finished. The barrel has the late style, square back, nickel-silver front sight blade and a dovetail mounted, folding leaf rear sight. The sight leaf has an elevator bar with rounded ends, elevator bar stop screw and 900 yard center notch. The second style receiver lacks the alternate rear sight dovetail found on Henry receivers up to about serial number 3000. The bottom of the receiver has the late, beveled, magazine follower cut, and the magazine has the large diameter brass follower. The crescent buttplate is the second style with sharp pointed heel introduced around serial number 5100 and late, small diameter, buttplate screws. The buttplate has a hinged brass trapdoor. The left side of the stock and barrel have a factory sling swivel and screw mounted loop for a sling hook. The hook loop is fitted with a ring. The sling swivel and hook loop were originally special order features but were standard by early 1864. The top of the barrel is roll stamped with the second style legend: "HENRY'S PATENT. OCT. 16, 1860/MANUFACT'D BY THE NEW HAVEN ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CT." in two lines. The second style legend, introduced in the late 3000 serial number range, is larger with all serif letters than the smaller, first style legend that used a combination of serif and block letters. The serial number is stamped: (1) on the top barrel flat between the rear sight and the receiver, (2) on the lower left side of the receiver tang, (3) in the upper tang inlet of the stock, and (4) on the inside of the buttplate. All of the visible serial numbers match. The buttplate and tang screws are, correctly, not serial numbered. The small "H" sub-inspection mark of B. Tyler Henry is stamped on the lower tang behind the lever latch. Experts believe that most Henry rifles made prior to 1865 were privately purchased by individual federal soldiers who wanted the unprecedented firepower offered by the 15-shot Henry repeating rifle. The Henry rifle was especially popular with soldiers in Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky regiments. Many of these soldiers purchased Henry rifles from dealers in Louisville, Kentucky, and other mid-west cities in 1864 using re-enlistment bounties.

Standard carbine barrels were 20 inches, making this a rare factory variation of the Model 1873. In fact, Model 1873 carbines were rarely ordered with any type of special order features. It has the third model receiver (dust cover with rear serrations on an integral central guide rail), and correctly lacks caliber markings. The barrel has carbine sights and is marked with the two-line address/patent information ahead of the folding ladder rear sight. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873" between two foliate designs. A saddle ring is mounted on the left side of the frame. Mounted on a carbine stock, and the carbine buttplate with compartment holds a three-piece cleaning rod.

Documented 1 of 5 Winchester Model 1885 Takedown Musket
This is absolutely a stunning and extremely rare "British Special Order" Winchester Model 1885 low wall, three band musket with the rare takedown feature, one of the rarest features ever found on low wall rifles. This rifle is one of only five known factory low walls of this type documented by Winchester. Three examples of these muskets are pictured on pages 154 and 155 in the book "The Winchester Single Shot Rifle" by Campbell. Although the rifle is pictured on page 155 lacks a serial number in the caption, it could in fact be this exact rifle! These rifles were reportedly manufactured by Winchester under a special order contract basis for evaluation by the British Government in the WWI era; theoretically intending them to be used by the British Home Guard, probably for training purposes, just as the U.S. Government was doing with the early Winder Muskets. The accompanying factory letter states the serial number for this rifle was applied on September 9, 1911. The included Buffalo Bill Historical Center letter (photocopy) states this rifle "was submitted to His Brittanic Majesty's Purchasing Commission (J.P. Morgan Bank acting as agent) as a proposed model for use by the English Home Guard" and confirms the caliber, takedown feature and low wall action. The no. 1 barrel is fitted with pinned blade front and folding ladder rear sights and is marked with the two-line address/patent dates followed by the two-line nickel steel marking and "22 SHORT" on the left side. It is very interesting to see the nickel steel marking as this factory stamping was usually reserved for center fire cartridges when Winchester was transitioning from black powder to smokeless powder and therefore was not usually seen on .22 rimfire rifles. A Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. It has a standard straight grip stock and very rare full length musket type forearm that has two barrel bands and a nose cap that also function as a barrel band, making this a three band musket. A set of factory sling swivels is mounted on the underside of the buttstock and middle barrel band.
