Description:

Manufactured in 1895. Standard markings with "32-40" on the top barrel flat at the breech. The serial number is on the front underside of the receiver. Dovetailed German silver blade front and adjustable buck horn rear sights, blue finish, casehardened hammer, lever, and buttplate; and is mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the takedown rifle configuration, octagon barrel, caliber, plain trigger, that it was received in the warehouse on August 11, 1896, and shipped to order number 8113 on May 13, 1899. The letter also states that the serial number was applied on December 9, 1895.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with 60% plus original blue finish remaining, showing some muzzle and edge wear, thinning on the forend cap and underside of the receiver and takedown ring, and some light spotting on the receiver. 50% original niter blue remains on the loading gate. 70% of the original vivid case colors remain on the hammer and lever, and the buttplate has a smooth mottled gray patina. The fine wood retains half of the original finish, and shows some minor dents and dings. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
