Measuring 16 3/8 inches overall, this knife is equipped with an 11 1/2 inch blade, featuring a 6 3/4 inch long unsharpened false edge, the "I*XL" trademark on the left ricasso, and the legend "G. WOSTENHOLM & SON/WASHINGTON WORKS/SHEFFIELD" on the left flat. The tang runs the full length of the hilt and nearly the full thickness of the blade, with a two-branch German silver guard, a pair of stag horn grips, and an unmarked German silver inscription panel on the left. With a leather sheath, and a modern luggage-style case.

Good. The blade shows evidence of much usage during the original period of use, with notable setback of the edge from sharpening, mild polishing, and some spotting and pitting overall. The hilt shows some light wear and scuffs. The sheath is fair, with some tearing and material loss and may be a later replacement.
