Single bead sight on the smooth concave rib with Belgian proofs on the underside of the barrels, light engraving at the breech, and improved cylinder/modified chokes. The locks are engraved with splashes of light scroll and hunting dog scenes. Checkered one-piece stock with two silver initial shields and inscribed silver buttplate (see photo). John J. Bradley was an American Democratic politician and businessman, he served as councilman in the 57th district of New York City in 1856, Alderman for the 14th district in 1858 and 1859, member of the New York State Senate in 1862 and 1863, and again elected to the states senate from 1868 to 1871. Most importantly Bradley was a known member of the infamous "Tweed Ring" operating out of Tammany Hall. This organization, along with the New York Democratic Party held the vast majority of power in 19th century New York largely through corrupt dealing and the exchange of large sums of money. The influence of Tammany Hall and its associated members would dominate New York politics from the mid 1800s until the election of the strongly anti-Tammany Mayor Fiorello La Guardia in 1934.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrels have an attractive overall dark brown patina with spotting, small dents, and pitting. The locks, hammers, and small parts are similarly dark with light engraving, oxidation, pitting and dings. The stock has been period repaired with the addition of a metal plate screwed in place around the forearm with worn checkering, edge wear, and numerous dings and dents throughout. Mechanically fine.
