Description:

This rifle was manufactured by Abe Williams around the 1860s and has a .44 caliber rifled barrel over a .74 caliber smoothbore barrel. The rifle barrel is fitted with blade and adjustable sporting sights and marked "AW/OSWEGO NY" just behind the rear sight. A folding peep sight is on the upper tang. You must set the trigger to fire the rifle barrel, and if both hammers are cocked and the trigger is set, both hammers will drop if the trigger is fully pulled. The locks are unmarked. The furniture is all German silver. The stock is smooth walnut and has a cheekpiece. Abe Williams reportedly worked for the Walter and Charles Ogden before taking over their business in the mid-1860s, and this gun is similar to Ogden combination guns.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with 40% of original blue finish mixed with smooth brown patina along the barrels and locks, some minor pitting and oxidation, light aging of the German silver, smooth oiled finish on the stock, and minor marks and scratches. Mechanically fine.
