No maker's marks are present,. The construction of the pistol with high hammer, length of the lock plate and flatter profile of the butt suggest production by Slotter & Company of Philadelphia. Produced in the "peanut" configuration, with tiny barrel and stock, only 4 1/2 inches from end to end. Silver finished brass blade front and tang notch rear sights, with a pair of engraved zigzag border lines on the upper left flat of the breech, a combination of scroll and burst engraving on the tang, and a deeply etched tight twist pattern on the barrel. Silver fittings, with further scrollwork on the lock, accent plate, the side of the hammer, reverse plate, trigger guard and shield escutcheon, with zigzag lines on the top of the hammer and around the border of the teardrop buttplate, burst patterns on the spur and fenced bolster, and a lengthened pineapple on the trigger guard finial. A small plain triangular escutcheon is inlayed into the tip of the checkered bird's head stock.

Very fine. The barrel shows a satin gray patina finish. The etched pattern on the barrel is sharp and clean. The engraved lock, hammer and bolster have crisp well-defined scroll engraving. The lock, hammer, tang and plug have turned a smooth gray. The silver mountings show a nice patina with sharp engraving. The stock is very good with the edge showing moderate wear and the checkering beginning to flatten. The stock has a few light pressure dents on the stock, with the butt escutcheon slightly loose at the tip. Mechanically excellent. A very nice original Slotter peanut Derringer worthy of the finest Derringer collection.
