Approximately 976 Bisley flattop target model revolvers were manufactured with only 62 in .44 Russian, so surviving examples are scarce in any condition. The accompanying Colt factory letter lists this flat top target Bisley with a 7 1/2 inch barrel in .44 Russian, blue finish, and type of stocks not listed when sold to Schoverling, Daly & Gales, New York City, and shipped to Colt's London Agency, London, England, on February 20, 1905, with one other gun. The barrel is marked with the one-line Hartford address on top and "(BISLEY MODEL) 44 RUSSIAN CTG." on the left side. The frame has a circled "C" stamped above the serial number on the underside and the two-line, three-patent date marking followed by a circled Rampant Colt on the left side. The rear cylinder face and right side of the barrel and frame are proofed: "crown/R", "star/b", "crown/L", and Liege "E/LG". The revolver has the distinctive special flattop target fame, dovetailed target rear sight and adjustable German silver front sight. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. Casehardened hammer and remaining surfaces are blue and checkered hard rubber grips featuring the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.

Very fine. The revolver retains 80% plus bright original high polish blue finish with the balance thinning to a brown. Some original case colors remain on the hammer. There is some minor pitting on the barrel towards the muzzle. The grips are fine with a few minor-moderate handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. A very scarce documented .44 Russian Bisley Target revolver missing from even the most advanced Colt SAA collections.
