The included July 19, 2005, sworn affidavit titled "Re: Gun belt owned by Bob Ford when he shot Jesse James" states that "The referenced gun belt was given by a Bob Ford family member to my Uncle Alford T. Ford when he was very young. Alford was born in 1898 in Clay County Missouri. . .He gave the belt to me in the 1950's. . .When he gave me the belt he cautioned me to keep it quiet because he believed there where still people around that might cause some kind of trouble. . .The belt has been in my continuous possession since given to me. . .I certify that the above is a true and accurate statement. [Signed] Otis D. Gouty". No other information was provided or has been found. The overall length of the belt is just 34 inches. It has no identifying markings.
