Early 20th Century Documented Denver Shipped First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter

Model: Single Action Army
Type: Revolver
Gauge: 45 Long Colt
Barrel: 4 3/4 inch round
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grip: hard rubber
Stock:
Item Views: 1946
Item Interest: Active
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 136
Class: Curio & Relic Handgun
Description:

The factory letter confirms the barrel length, caliber, and finish and that it was shipped on June 14, 1901, in a 4 gun shipment to George Tritch Hardware Company in Denver, Colorado. By the turn of the century, Denver was one of the largest cities in the West. It has standard markings and feature, including matching numbers. The grips and cylinder are not numbered.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with 60% plus original blue and casehardened finish, most of the loss located on the cylinder, light gray and brown patina on the faded spots, mild edge and holster wear, some small chemical type spots on the frame, and crisp checkering on the grips which have attractive natural lightly aged tones. Mechanically functions fine other than the weak safety notch.
