The letter lists this revolver as the sole gun of its type in a shipment on Christmas Eve 1925 to Abercrombie & Fitch in New York City in the current configuration. The barrel has "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER .44-40" (variation introduced pre-January 1923) on the left and the two-line address on top. The frame has the two-line/three-date patent marking and Rampant Colt trademark on the left. Matching serial numbers are on the frame and right side of the grip frame, and "865" (the assembly number) is on the back of the frame and the loading gate. Some faint letters are scratched on the front of the loading gate. The grips are not numbered.

Fine with refinished grip straps, 85% plus original blue finish on the barrel and cylinder, 60% vibrant original case colors on the hammer, brighter case colors in the protected areas and otherwise 50% fading original case colors on the frame, light cylinder rotation and flash marks, and general minor handling and storage type marks. Mechanically excellent.
