Manufactured circa 1876 into the 1880s, this Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Pocket Army single action revolver features a round barrel, fluted cylinder and bird's head butt. The serial number is on the left side of the butt ahead of the lanyard hole, and the matching assembly number "3156" is marked on the left side of the grip frame, barrel lug, back of the cylinder, and the cylinder pin and faintly hand marked on the inside of the right grip. The barrel has the Hopkins & Allen address and the patent markings on the left side and an integral rounded blade front sight. The frame has an integral notch rear sight period non-factory installed and an added notched rear sight blade, "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER" followed by "1873" on the left side, and "MERWIN, HULBERT & CO. N.Y./POCKET ARMY" on the right side.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 80% original nickel plating, traces of original case colors on the hammer and trigger guard, some gray and brown patina on the balance, mild scratches and dings, mild aging and some flat spots on the grips, and generally crisp checkering and markings. Mechanically functions fine, but the hammer spring is weak.
