Description:

Less than 1,200 of these Aircrewman revolvers were produced and most were destroyed by the U.S. Air Force when they were removed from service after some failed due to improper ammunition. Less than 50 are believed to have survived being turned into scrap. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 2 inch barrel in .38 special, blue finish, type of stocks not listed, factory engraved "413" on butt, and furnished with a holster supplied by the U.S. Government when sold and shipped to the Port Transportation Officer, San Francisco Port of Embarkation, San Francisco on November 13, 1951, as part of a 150 gun shipment. It has the "PROPERTY OF U.S. AIR FORCE" marking on the back strap, Air Force inventory number "A. F. No. 413" on the butt, matching serial on the yoke and crane, and Air Force medallions on the top of the checkered grips. Comes with a brown leather holster with shoulder strap and unmarked commercial style black leather holster

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver retains 30% original combination anodized/blue finish with the balance between smooth gray and brown patinas. The heavily worn grips are fair. Mechanically excellent. The shoulder holster is very good with minor flex wear and tight stitching. A rare Colt revolver missing from the most advance U.S. military sidearm collections.
