Description:

The Model 1894 was the first Krag rifle adopted by the Norwegian Army and was based on the same basic design as the U.S. Army Model 1892 Krag rifle. This model was produced in 1894 through 1929, when production was officially stopped; although the rifle remained in service with the Norwegian Army until after World War II. The Norwegian models are easily distinguished from the Danish models because the Norwegian rifles and carbines loading gates on the side of the receivers fold downward (like the U.S. Krag rifles) while the Danish rifles folds forward. The Model 1894 was also made for civilian target shooters. The top of the chamber is marked with a crown over script letter proof over "1898" (the year of manufacture). To the left of the date is a crown/script letter proof over the serial number and an unrecognizable mark. The left side of the stock is also stamped with a Norwegian "Crown/script letter" proof over the matching serial number. It has a 29 1/2 inch barrel that is fitted with the standard military sights that consists of a blade front sight and tangent style rear sight graduated to 2,200 meters. It is fitted with a walnut pistol grip, buttstock and long one-piece handguard. The stock has a narrow/thin pistol grip/buttstock area with finger grooves on the sides. It has a high polished blue finish with a light colored walnut stock and handguard and comes with a spare firing pin and ejector inside the buttstock trap.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear. 95% casehardened finish remain. The stock and handguard are also both excellent with a very light, honey colored finished stock with clear cartouches and proofs on the sides showing numerous light pressure dents and dings on the sides, with some heavier scratches on the underside of the forestock.
