Description:

This is a very scarce example of an WWII Russian PPS-43 submachine manufactured in 1944 that has been reactivated and registered by Charles Erb. The Charles Erb company was a well-known manufacturer and repairer of Class 3 weapons in the 1960s, 70s and into the 1980s. This model was the true war-expedient version of the PPSH-41 that used almost all stamped and welded steel parts and assemblies with a machined steel bolt, barrel and trunnion block. These were highly effective when used by the Russians in mass assaults against the Germans during Stalingrad as they had a very high rate of fire (700 rpm) with the high velocity 7.62 X 25mm pistol cartridge. They used the standard 30 round stick magazine. The top of the receiver is marked: "C/1944/ NT 382". The "C" represented the WWII Russian State factory code. It has the original hard plastic grips, folding steel stock and one 30 round magazines. As noted this weapon was reactivated by Charles Erbwhich appears to have included the installation of a new barrel. The lower left side of the receiver is marked: "CHARLES ERB/FREDRICTOWN/Penn. USA."

Rating Definition:

Very fine as refurbished with 90% plus of its current blued finish overall with light thinning and blue loss on the sides and upper rear area of the receiver. The original markings are clear and distinct. The black plastic grips are in very fine condition with no visible cracks or wear. A very nice condition, late WWII Russian PPS-43 SMG. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
