Description:

This is a solid example of a very scarce original combination leather shoulder stock/holster for the Colt Model 1905 semiautomatic pistol. It is estimated that less than 500 of these rare Colt produced leather combination shoulder stocks/holster were ever produced with only a very few even know to exist today. The primitive leather tanning process back then turned out to be extremely harsh on any leather product, making any example extremely rare today. There were two different lots of Model 1905 pistols that were produced to use this specific holster. They all had their back straps machined (grooved) on the outer rear edges of the frame to allow the brass mounting hardware to be slid into place. This specific piece has the original/unmarked large brass hardware on the front end of the holster with the latching mechanism on the underside. It has a single large flap on the front and a single belt loop on the rear that is held in place via a small metal buckle. The holster itself measure approximately 11 inches long by 6 inches wide and is completely unmarked.

Rating Definition:

Fair with a nice original brown/black matching color on the face of the leather overall. The stitching on the edge of the holster is complete. However, the leather has deteriorated in two locations: one, on the rear upper rear end of the flap, and the other area is on the lower front edge behind the brass hardware. Both have some type of old glue repair that has come loose, however both probably could be corrected by a true leather conservator. The hardware and latch mechanism are complete and functional. This is truly an extremely scarce and highly desirable early Colt combination leather shoulder stock/holster. There are more Colt 1905 Military Models slotted for stock than there are stocks to fit them!
