Manufactured in 1967. This two barrel set consists of a 20 and 28 gauge set. The 20 gauge barrels are 28 inches in length, and the 28 gauge is 26 inches. Both have a Bradley bead front and steel Winchester mid bead sights on the matte vent rib marked "CUSTOM BUILT BY WINCHESTER FOR JOHN J. HAYES". Both have a 2 1/2 inch wedge of floral scroll engraving on the breech end, Winchester proofed with jeweled flats, lugs, ejectors and breech face; 2 3/4 inch chambers on the 28 gauge, 3 inch on the 20 gauge and both are choked improved cylinder/modified. The latch lug on each is numbered "1" (20 gauge) and "2" (28 gauge). Each has its own extra fancy full Fleur-de-Lis hand checkered beavertail forearm with ebony forend insert and scroll engraved hardware. The flats are marked with the gauge and chamber length. The interior of the hardware is jeweled, numbered "1" and "2", and the matching serial number is marked on the hardware and the wood. The action features extensive floral scroll with the same pattern on the break lever and trigger guard. Each side of the action features an oval panel with a gold inlaid hunting dog in a field scene, two gold inlaid pheasants in a field scene in a circle on the bottom and the trigger guard has a gold inlaid dog's head. The water table is jeweled and Winchester proofed. Gold single trigger with selector, tang mounted manual safety and mounted with a nicely figured, Fleur-de-Lis checkered walnut pistol grip stock with engraved, gold inlaid wire bordered, gold inlaid "GRAND/AMERICAN" metal grip cap, vented Winchester recoil pad and gold initial oval inscribed "JJH". The set is complete in a hard leather Winchester takedown case with leather corner protectors, handle and straps, Winchester label on the inside of the lid, wine colored felt lining. There is also a canvas case cover. The bore diameter on the 20 gauge set is .616/.614, and the wall thickness is .042/.043. The bore diameter of the 28 gauge set is .546/.546, and the wall thickness is .0525. Length of pull is 13 7/8 inches, drop at the heel is 2 1/4 inches, and drop at the comb is 1 3/8 inches.

Excellent plus. Both sets of barrels retain 99% original blue finish. The 20 gauge barrel set retains 99% plus original blue finish with a few tiny minor dings. The 28 gauge set retains 99% original blue finish with some mild wear on the muzzles. The remainder of the metal surfaces retain 99% plus original blue finish, and all of the gold inlay remains. The wood also excellent with only the slightest handling/storage marks and very crisp checkering. The engraving and markings are sharp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with some scuffs and minor corner wear. The case cover is good with numerous light stains.
