Description:

Measuring 17 inches long, 3 1/2 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches wide when fully assembled, this is a very finely detailed miniature copy of the Thompson Model 1928AC Submachine Gun. The level of detail is very high, with minor adjustments to the markings; the caliber reading "25" instead of "45" (note: not physically capable of cycling live ammo) and the legend "EDMOND H. DE LA GARRIGUE, SR./MAKER" on the right side. A firearms engraver and craftsman, Edmond de la Garrigue was active in Texas in the 1970s and was a true master miniature maker, capable of producing fully functional miniature Thompsons; in total he is believed to have made about 20-30, totaling both the functional and display items in all known models. Fine bright finish overall, with blade front and ladder (sans staff) sights, an unmarked Cutts compensator on the ribbed barrel, and the proper selector switches and magazine catch. The furniture is manufactured from walnut, with the detachable buttstock being an especially high grade fancy walnut. The set is complete with a miniature "Kasekraft" brand black leatherette/purple felt case in the "FBI" style, which holds the disassembled SMG and buttstock, along with the following included scale accessories: four blued steel stick magazines (three with patent marks), a nickel finished drum magazine (rotor present, spring and guide rails absent), brass cleaning rod, two ammo boxes (one Winchester commercial, one military Western Cartridge Company) and a manual.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 90% plus original nickel finish, showing a number of light scratches and some darkening of the finish in the protected areas. The buttstock has been broken and repaired; otherwise, the wood is in very good condition. The case is good, with some loose lining and mild wear, and the boxes show some mild crushing; otherwise, the accessories are good. Mechanically needs adjustment.
