Manufactured in 1869. The top barrel flat is marked with the desirable first style legend "HENRY'S PATENT-OCT. 16. 1860/KINGS-PATENT-MARCH 29, 1866" ahead of the rear sight. A Winchester oval proof is stamped on the barrel and receiver at the breech, indicating the rifle was returned to the factory early in the 20th century. It is fitted with a dovetailed blade front sight, a folding ladder rear sight graduated to 900 yards, special order sling swivels on the forearm cap and stock and leather sling. The serial number is stamped on the lower tang just behind the trigger. The straight grip stock is fitted with a brass crescent buttplate featuring a compartment holding a four piece cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel and magazine have a smooth crisp brown patina. The brass has a smooth patina. The wood is good with numerous scattered minor-moderate surface dents, dings, and gouges, a couple missing and loose slivers of wood near the upper tang, and some minor handling marks. The action needs work as the hammer does not hold at the half cock position.
