The accompanying factory letter lists this special order Model 1894 with a 24 inch round barrel in .30 caliber, plain trigger, half magazine, checkered pistol grip stock, oil finish, extra light, and hard rubber shotgun buttplate when it was received in the warehouse on October 26, 1899 and shipped the same day. The rifle is fitted with raised dovetailed blade Lyman front, three-leaf rear, and Lyman tang peep sights. The left side of the later production replacement barrel is stamped with the "Model 94" legend followed by "30 W.C.F." A Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the three-line Model 1894/patent date information. There are sling eyelets, and the nicely figured forearm and pistol grip stock are checkered. The buttstock has a hard rubber factory grip cap and shotgun buttplate.

Fine as rebarreled (see above). The rifle retains 40% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. There are numerous minor scratches on the receiver. Traces of original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The refinished wood is very good with a short hairline crack near the upper tang, some minor handling evidence, and some wear in the checkering. Mechanically excellent.
