Though only marked "CAST STEEL" on the barrel, this pistol is very similar to other examples attributed to or marked by Blunt & Syms, and their guns are often marked "CAST STEEL." The hammer and rear of the action are engraved with classic scroll patterns. The barrel has a dovetailed blade front sight and a "CAST STEEL" marking, and notch rear sight is fitted on the breech plug

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine overall with 85% plus original bright blue finish, spots of brown patina and minor oxidation/pitting, glossy varnish on the grips, some small chips at the top of the right grip, minor edge wear, and light handling and storage marks. Mechanically excellent. This is a very attractive and exceptional example of 19th century American craftsmanship.
