Description:

These pistols were issued to Russian officers, mounted artillery, dragoons, cuirassier, hussar and Cossack troops during the Napoleonic Wars. This pistol is dated "1813" on the lock and has Tula in Cyrillic above and "Y" at the tail. The barrel appears to have a deep "54" on the left. It has standard Model 1809 features, including Alexander I's cipher on the thumb plate. 1813 was significant as the year Napoleon and his Grand Armee were steadily pushed back to France by the Allies which ultimately ended with his abdication in early 1814. For more information see www.russianrevolvers.com. Provenance: Joe Leiper Collection.

Rating Definition:

Fine with gray patina and mostly mild pitting. The brass has aged patina. The stock is fair with gaps around the bottom of the lock, a dark applied finish, thin cracks, and scattered scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine.
