Description:

The stock has a partially visible marking for Thomas Turner on the bottom and a Birmingham Small Arms trade roundel on the right. The lock is dated "1863" the other markings and features are standard for the commercial 1853 Enfields. These rifle-muskets were imported by both sides during the Civil War and widely used. Includes a "379" marked socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Fair with moderate pitting and gray and artificial brown patina along most of the barrel, light pitting on the hammer, dark patina on the lock, and aged patina on the brass. The refinished stock is very good and has minor scrapes and dings. The bayonet is fine with gray and brown patina and some oxidation. Mechanically fine.
