The Jarre Harmonica pistols were developed in the late 1850s in Paris, France. This example is loaded via a 10-round horizontal block that automatically advances between chambers when the trigger is pulled. The action is double action only. This arrangement represented a significant increase in on-hand firepower for the era, even when compared to other repeating pinfire arms of the same time period, but they would have been difficult to carry conveniently while loaded compared to a traditional handgun. This interesting innovation was relatively short lived and thus high end examples are hard sought collectible firearms. It has a dovetailed blade front sight, no rear sight, smooth bore, "No 16 Jon Jarre a Paris" on top of the barrel in ornate script, find scroll engraving, and smooth walnut grips.

Fine overall with bright surfaces, crisp marking and engraving, some slight spotting, and minor and handling and storage wear. Mechanically functions fine.
