This shotgun is approximately 12 gauge and is marked "W. J. KING, 220 PICCADILLY LONDON. MANUFACTURED EXPRESSLY FOR J. A. MALTBY GALENA, ILLS." on the rib which also has a single bead front sight, and "W. J. KING" is on each lock plate. Aside from the brown finished Damascus pattern barrels, the components feature detailed scrollwork engraving. The straight wrist stock is made from burled, blonde walnut and has multi-point checkering on the wrist and forend along with a golden initial plaque on the upper wrist. It includes an ebony colored wooden ramrod with brass tips and comes with a hardwood takedown case that contains a variety of accessories including two powder flasks, two shot bags (one partially full), fiber wads, patches, powder measures, a takedown cleaning rod, bullet mold, and more. The case is lined in green felt.

Rating Definition:

Very good as partially refinished (buttstock). The barrels have a mixture of thinned brown finish and a brown patina with visible patterns and some patches of oxidation. The breech and buttplate have some redone case colors while the lock plates and trigger guard have a brown patina. The lightly sanded, revarnished stock is also very good with crisp checkering, a few minor dings, and a couple slight chips on the edges. The action is excellent. The engraving patterns and the markings are crisp. The case is fair and has a missing corner piece, a cracked lid, and general mild storage wear. The accessories are fine to very good.
