Description:

Offered here is a Russian copy of a Colt Model 1851 featuring etched patterns on the frame and barrel. The frame screws enter from the right sight which has been noted on many of the Tula Arsenal copies of the popular Colt Model 1851 Navy. The barrel has a post front sight, notch rear sight, and "S. COLT PATENT" etched on top. There are no additional visible markings. It is equipped with an ejector and a loading gate on the right that are somewhat reminiscent of those on European pinfire revolvers. This is the only cartridge conversion the consignor has seen during his decades of researching Russian Colts. For more information see www.russianrevolvers.com. Provenance: Joe Leiper Collection.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with mostly light gray patina, some spots of slight pitting, repaired crack and filled holes on the butt, repaired shoulders on the back strap, minor nicks and scratches and a few small chips on the grip, and distinct etching. Mechanically fine. This is a really interesting example of a foreign copy of a Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver.
