Description:

The included factory letter confirms this revolver was part of a 1,000 gun shipment sent to Major F.D. Callender at the St. Louis Arsenal on either November 7 or 13, 1862. "S.R." is marked on both sides of the trigger guard, split around in front and behind the trigger guard bow, and both sides of the grip at the butt. The significance of these markings is not known. The other markings and features are standard including matching serial numbers on the various components other than the wedge.

Rating Definition:

Good overall with mottled gray and brown patina and light pitting on the steel, aged patina on the brass, edge wear, traces of the faint cartouches on the very good grip, and general small nicks, scratches, and dings overall. Mechanically functions but is slightly out of time and will not allow cylinder to rotate freely on half cock.
