Description:

These so called "Model 1890" carbines are actually Model 1873, 1877, and 1884 carbines that were altered by fitting front sight protectors and fitting a special barrel band that cradles the top of the rear sight ladder and protects it from snagging or being struck. This example is a Model 1884 and has an "1889" dated cartouche and the standard Model 1884/1890 features. A two-piece cleaning rod and ruptured case tool are in the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very good as arsenal modified/assembled with 40% faded arsenal refurbished blue and casehardened finish, some light oxidation, some chips and scrapes on the refinished stock, and legible markings throughout. Mechanically excellent.
