Description:

Blade and tangent sights, a set of totenkopf (death's head) "M" and "SS 2" stamps on the left side of the barrel, and a set of Imperial "crown" and "crown/N" marks next to the serial number on the receiver. While not documented, the inspection marks suggest a vintage Gewehr 98 shortened up and altered to "karabiner" configuration. The death's head stamps are associated with both World War I trench raiders and the infamous SS of World War II. Another totenkopf is present on the underside of the stock, with a brown leather sling and a steel buttplate. A steel muzzle protector is also included, as is a small metal cleaning kit.

Rating Definition:

Very good as assembled (mixed numbers on bolt and retention) and arsenal refurbished, with 30% of the blue, showing areas of brown and gray patina, bright edge wear and mild handling marks and spotting. The stock is fair, with a chip forming on the right side just ahead of the bolt, wood patches on the underside of the buttstock, and a number of dents and scuffs. Mechanically very fine.
