Description:

Manufactured in 1943, the G41 represents a relatively early attempt by the Germans to deploy a semi-automatic rifle for infantry use, built around the "Bang" patent gas trap system. The Bang system, while promising, was more intricate and fragile than the gas port system that would grow to become an international standard for gas-driven infantry weapons, and the G41 and its variants were retired in favor of the G/K43 series of rifles. Hooded blade front and tangent rear sights. The receiver is fully machined, with a solid knob on the bolt carrier, machined action cover and stamped barrel bands, trigger guard and box magazine. It has the blade front sight with a sheet metal cover and the standard tangent rear sight. The slide is graduated 1-12 (100-1200 meters). It is fitted with a standard wartime laminated pistol grip stock with a dark Bakelite upper handguard and a cupped steel buttplate. The right side of the stock has two small, faint Waffenamt Eagle proofs, with a single proof in the pistol grip area. It comes with an aged brown leather sling and a cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% of the original blue finish remaining overall with blue loss on top of the receiver and action cover as well as the front exposed area of the barrel and front barrel band. The edges of the trigger guard and box magazine both show some light areas of oxidation. The stock and handguard are both in very fine condition and show numerous light handling marks and pressure dents in various areas overall mixed with some heavier deep scratches on the sides and underside of the forend area. The leather sling is in very good condition showing wear and finish lose overall.
