This pistol has sliver plated metal finish with various smaller parts having a gold plated finished. The pistol was produced after April 1940 and is very similar to the pistol shown on pages 51-71 of the book "Walther Volume II, Engraved, Presentation and Standard Models" by Rankin. This superb pistol exhibits a very desirable and seldom seen type of scroll and vine engraving pattern with a punch-dot back ground that covers approximately 75% of the pistol. The markings have all been outlined or framed in a geometric type border with the front and rear grip straps, also showing a more detailed and unique type of geometric designed border, that tastefully blends with the engraving on the slide and sides of the frame. The various small parts (trigger, hammer, safety lever and magazine release) have all been gold plated. The left side of the slide has Walther Banner, followed by the two line factory address/Walther patent and caliber markings followed by "MOD PP". The chamber area of the frame and muzzle end of the barrel are both proofed with a single Nazi "Eagle/N" commercial proof. The pistol has the standard serial number placement on the frame with the last three digits (440) scribed on the inside of the slide. It has the earlier 60 degree safety lever and is fitted with standard fixed sights. It is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips, a silver plated magazine (numbered 2/979120) on the spine that has a brown plastic finger rest base.

Very fine as custom embellished with 98% of the silver plated finish overall with the various smaller parts showing 90% of the gold plated finish. The engraving, markings and proofs are all in excellent condition with nice sharp details. The custom walnut grips are also in very fine condition with nice sharp and distinct checkering overall, with both grips numbered (40) on the back side of each grip. Mechanically excellent.
