Description:

Manufactured in 1939, this is one of a limited pre-World War II Navy-exclusive run of Colt Model 1911A1 semi-automatic pistols. Representing the final shift from the "Transitional 1911" to the 1911A1 that would be America's standard through World War II and beyond, the pistol bears the "ARMY" nomenclature on the frame. Fixed sights, with the two-line, two-date patent and address markings on the left side of the slide divided by the Rampant Colt, "P" on the top, and a matching serial number beneath the firing pin stop. The frame bears the Army 1911A1 nomenclature on the right side, with "P/H" proof/inspector marks around the magazine catch and "99/VP" and "69" on the trigger guard, as well as an "R" in an oval next to the disconnector pin. Fittings include a flat top rear sight, wide knurled hammer, slide catch, thumb safety and arched mainspring housing, short milled trigger, long grip safety, fully checkered grips, unmarked two-tone magazine, and a full blue "COLT 45 AUTO" barrel with a "P" on the lug and a small "F" on the underside.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored with 99% plus factory quality blue overall, showing some light handling marks overall, a small dark spot on the muzzle, and a few hints of brown tone in the slide serrations. The grips are very fine with some dents and dark spots. The thumb safety plunger is a bit stiff; otherwise, it is mechanically excellent.
