Description:

This a near new example of a late post-war production M1 Garand rifle that was manufactured by Springfield Armory in June 1956 as a Type I NM rifle. These early NM rifle are very scarce as most were subsequently rebuilt, upgraded and or overhauled several times during the course of their shooting careers. These early rifles had actually almost no modifications aside from have special selected parts that were hand fitted with a NM marked barrel. The rear of the receiver has the standard four-line Springfield Armory markings over the serial number (6095863), and the barrel is marked with two stamped "T" targeting proofs, both to the left with one upside down and the other right side up, followed by "SA F6535448 6 56 A227B". It is also unusual that the barrel has four "P" proof firing stamps with the small DOD acceptance stamp on the right side. It is stamped "N M (star proof)" on the left front side of the barrel, with the breech end of the barrel still in the white. It is fitted all the standard late production Springfield Armory parts with the late production post-war sight set. The barrel is fitted with a wide base gas cylinder, high top gas cylinder lock and late four-slot gas plug. It is currently fitted with a GI walnut stock and handguard set. The stock is marked on the left side with the standard "DOD" cartouche and a single encircled "P" proof in the pistol grip area. It is complete with a plastic oiler, cleaning rod handle and grease pot in the buttstock trap compartment.

Rating Definition:

Excellent as new with 98% plus of the original parkerized finish overall showing only minor cycling wear on the right side. The stock and handguard are all in excellent plus condition with a nice matching brown color overall showing only a couple of very minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
